EIGHT MONTHS!!!!!!!!

My little buddy is EIGHT MONTHS OLD!

IMG_3366

Eight months sounds so big! You’re growing like a weed! At least 17 lbs but I’d bet you are close to 18.

Pictures

Some pictures from our first (solo!) trip to Lubbock…

This is what happens when I get the camera/phone a little too close, he reaches out for it.

Chris & I decided to go on a ski trip next February so I dug out our ski clothes box and had you try some stuff on.

It’s getting more difficult to get a non-blurry picture. You are always moving around like a crazy man.

BLAKE 7-9 months5

You experienced your first snow/ice storm and thank goodness our power stayed on. That would not have been fun. We were cooped up inside the house from Thursday afternoon until Monday morning when we had to go to the pediatrician for your flu booster then back home until Tuesday morning when we finally went out for groceries. The ground was so slick that I couldn’t even walk to the mailbox. But it made for some pretty pictures-

Since the leaves were still on our trees, the ice made the branches droop almost to the ground. I’m glad we didn’t lose any branches, but a lot of trees around town did.

BLAKE 7-9 months7

We did take you (very carefully) outside for a minute and let you taste your first icicle.

Cute boy in his crib with his sleeping kitty friend.

Before the snow melted I wanted to get a few “real” pictures (DSLR, not the usual camera phone) of you outside. I found the best non-patterned blanket and gave you your stocking for a prop.

This is what happens when you have him sit still for more than a few seconds ;)

A few more randoms from the month…

BLAKE 7-9 months12

We had Farr-Christmas a few weekends before Christmas. It started with a failed trip to see Santa at Bass Pro. We had to settle for the Christmas tree at the front of the store since we didn’t want to wait HOURS to see Mr Claus

BLAKE 7-9 months13

Back at our house, the babies opened presents and played-

Cousin Love <3

BLAKE 7-9 months15

Sunday we went to church in Denton then out to eat.

BLAKE 7-9 months16

That evening we had our 2nd annual ornament exchange party! A lot different than last year :)

BLAKE 7-9 months17

All the babes. Only one of these four was around last year and we’ll add at least one more next year from the Murphys.

BLAKE 7-9 months18

We had our monthly play date with Miss Quinn & Miss Peyton. It’s fun to see all the changes in our kiddos and how they are alike & different at the same time. Someday they can play by themselves and their mommies can relax and have girl talk :)

Swinging, eating pickles, chickfila date with Addy & her mommy, crazy man, and posing with “dad & mom” statues in the front yard.

You had your FIRST CHRISTMAS this month but due to an OVERLOAD of pictures, I’m going to do a separate post on that.

Sleep: Sleeping thru the night 10-11 hrs. Still not that great with naps, but you fall asleep quicker which is a big relief. Daddy has put you to bed quite a few times this month which has been nice.

Car Seat:Soooooooo much better! You’re like a normal baby and will fall asleep pretty easily in your car seat! Hallelujah. It only took you 8 months ;)

Teeth: None yet (**SPOILER ALERT FOR 9 MONTH POST- WE SAW A BOTTOM TOOTH COMING IN 12-29 ONE DAY AFTER YOU TURNED 8 MONTHS!)

Food: You will eat any “2nd stage” food. The only thing we’ve had to mix with something else is peas. But who likes puréed peas anyway. Still haven’t cooked & puréed any pure meats for you yet so not sure how you feel about that. You love Mum-Mum crackers which basically dissolve in your mouth and also “cheetos” (Gerber lil crunchie). I’m hoping the cheetos teach you how to bite and chew so you can start finger foods soon.

Clothes: 9 month PJS, 9 month shirts, 6/9 month pants. You're my little bootie boy. I have bought a few jackets at 12month size since they don’t have to fit tightly & you’ll be able to wear them for the whole winter season.

Trips: Lubbock- just you & mommy for 5 days starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Lubbock again Dec 21st for Christmas then to Abilene for the weekend after. You slept TWO HOURS in the car on the way to Abilene with the girls! THAT HASN’T HAPPENED SINCE YOU WERE ONE MONTH OLD! You & I were supposed to fly to Lubbock Dec 21st, but the line to check-in/check-bags was so long and slow that we were going to miss the flight so we decided to have daddy drive us to Abilene to meet Nana & Grandfather to take us the rest of the way to Lubbock. You did pretty well in the car every trip this month.

Talking: Just grunts, gurgles & squeals. I keep trying to get you to say MA-MA but you just look at me and smile.

Sitting/Crawling/Walking: The week before Christmas, you were inching your way across the floor, but over our Christmas vacation in Lubbock/Abilene you decided that crawling was the cool thing to do and you TOOK OFF! You are such a cute crawler and FAST too! I’ll go into the kitchen to put a dish away and I come back to find you across the floor! You are starting to pull up on everything and I bet you’re standing and walking in the next couple of months.

I’ve made a few notes of things you do so I can remember them:

  • You chew/suck on your high chair.
  • Love to chew on the food pouches.
  • If the cats are around, you get VERY distracted while eating.
  • Daddy is the only one who clips your nails. After I drew blood the first time, I prefer not to do it.
  • If you see a drop of food (even a teeny tiny one) on your white high chair tray, you immediately put your hand in it.
  • If you’re tired while eating food, you’ll rub your hand on your mouth then on your eyes so that food is all over your face. And you HATE it when I wipe your face off.
  • When you wake up in the morning, I usually have 10-30 min before I have to go get you because you’ll just roll around with your stuffed animals.
  • You have been having really bad boogers in the morning and you try to sneeze them out when I lay you on the changing table but sometimes you suck them back up. Gross! If they’re really bad I’ll wipe your face right after you sneeze to catch them (which you hate) but I gotta do it!
  • You LOVE to grab Tiga and it makes me so nervous, but she has been really good about not swatting at you. If she wants to get away she just gracefully jumps onto the couch.
  • You love riding in the seat of the grocery cart. I’ll pile up some things all around you to keep you occupied sometimes. You only get mad when I stop and look at something too long.
  • You have been really good about siting in high chairs at restaurants.
  • Sometimes you go into what Chris & I call “attack mode” and lunge/grab/”bite” our legs/face/feet. It’s hilarious.

Your personality is coming out more and more every day. You are such a fun-loving boy and even though you can be kind of needy, I try to cherish this time because there will come a day when you won’t want to crawl up into my lap. You have tons of cool toys, but mommy & daddy are still your favorite things to play with (well, and Tiga). We love you more than you'll ever know.
