5 Years!

We got a volunteer thank-you package from Ashley’s senior center – Villages of Lake Highlands – that came with a cute bucket and dalia seeds. They sprouted a few days after I planted them in the cute bucket they gave us!

I found a WHITE rose on our PINK rose bush! So weird!

Chris had the weekend off and for once we didn’t have any plans. It just so happened that it was also our FIVE year wedding anniversary on Saturday so we wanted to do something fun but also inexpensive. Sometimes a trip that takes up the whole weekend is nice, but we kind of wanted to have a day to catch up on everything so we decided that one night at Ray Roberts (45 min away) would be perfect.

Chris did the shopping and got the car all packed up so when I got home from work, I threw some clothes in a bag (my favorite part about camping- tshirts & flip flops with no hair care, makeup or jewelry) loaded up the cooler and we were off the State Park!

We arrived a little before 6pm and most of the spots were already taken, but fortunately there was one left with 90% shade (what the headquarters lady told Chris) that ended up being a great spot! Well, until our noisy neighbor to the left showed up and decided to play “tejano” music until after 11:30pm (luckily I was so tired I fell asleep even with it blaring).

We set up camp pretty quick, took a quick ride around our camp circle (Deer Run) then started a fire for dinner.

Fajitas are the perfect campfire meal.

We HAD to have s’mores for dessert!

Chris bought the gigantic sized marshmallows and had a GIGANTIC s’more! It got all over his face as he ate, but he didn’t even try to wipe it off until he had eaten the whole thing. It was hilarious!

Our spot – 80!

Chris making breakfast burritos. Since we had tortillas & cheese from fajitas we figured breakfast burritos would be easy. And, it’s my favorite breakfast!

After breakfast, we rode around the park on the concrete trail stopping at the picnic table area to look at the lake for a while. We had planned on biking some other trails, but it was getting hot so we decided to just go back, breakdown camp and head out.

When we got back to the house, we got to Face Time with my parents in Ireland! They showed us their RV -

So crazy to see them face to face over 4,500 miles away! There was almost no delay!

We planned on seeing a movie on our anniversary and we both agreed on MIB 3. We love going to the afternoon movies and eating after.

We couldn’t decide where to eat that fit our “no-tip but no-fast food but somewhere different” stipulations, but finally thought of Pei Wei because, even though we’ve been before, we haven’t been there in a while. I got the Pad Thai with veggies and Chris got the chicken fried rice (like always..).
