Friday afternoon was so beautiful, I HAD to be outside!! The cats enjoyed the sunshine too rolling around on the warm concrete.
Saturday morning we woke up early to go to the Dallas Cup Fun Run at FC Dallas stadium. Chris and I were expecting it to be like the Gary Burns fun run we did in Oct 2010 with lots of people dressed up, pushing strollers, grade school students everywhere… but this did not turn out like that. There were maybe 30 people in the starting gate and ALL of them took off running! We were planning on taking a leisurely walk, but got guilted into jogging since everyone else was.
I picked up my race bag with sample goodies and this polyester shirt the Thursday before. The other 3 got their bags & shirts the morning of. There were more samples around the stadium on race day that I definitely took advantage of.
Lined up for the “race”!
After the .6 mile jog, we went to Market Street for breakfast burritos. It was still a little chilly in the shade, but I enjoyed some more time outside with M & T. Or really just Meko. Tiga likes to venture off so she got put back inside.
On the trip to Market Street, I drove by the new Bahama Bucks location. The rumor is it will be opened this month! I CAN’T WAIT!!!
Chris worked 10-8 and I went to a pottery painting birthday party for a girl at church. I am not good at making decisions on what to paint at these places and it took me a good 30 minutes to decide. I ended up going with a large circle platter and put a double T on it to serve snacks on game day (or whenever else I need a big platter )! We had 2.5 hours, but I still didn’t finish so I’m going to have to go back sometime in the next 2 weeks.
The whole group (minus Christy and Mike who had already left)!
Still need to outline the TT in black, finish the red striped, outline the inner circle with black and dot the red stripes with black “puffy” paint…
For Easter Sunday lunch, we joined the Kowalskis and Blakes at the Blakes’ apartment for roast, veggies, salad, rolls, and peach tea. It was nice to spend Easter with other couples that didn’t have family in town.
For dessert, I brought supplies to make “resurrection rolls”! I saw it on a blog earlier in the week and thought it would make the perfect cheap/easy/yummy dessert. You take crescent rolls and wrap a marshmallow that’s been dipped in a butter, sugar, cinnamon mixture that represents Jesus being anointed with burying oils and layed in the tomb. Then when you bake it, the marshmallow “disappears” and that represents Jesus’s body no longer being in the tomb. A great lesson for kiddos but we had a lot of fun with it too!
I made everyone “roll” their own Jesus tomb. Mason was a good boy and took his nap while we ate.
The finished product! We paired them with vanilla ice-cream and they were yummy!
Sweet Mason, almost 6 months old!
When we got home from lunch, we both changed and settled down to watch the Masters on TV. I actually felt like taking a nap, probably because of the rain outside and nothing being open on Easter. Chris asked me to go turn down the air so I walked by the thermostat and pressed the down arrow a few times then went on my way. After a minute, Chris yelled for me to turn it down some more (weird) so I went back to the thermostat and it was already at 76 degrees (we usually keep it around 77-78). Then I noticed why he was wanting me to turn down the air… he had put a chocolate egg on top of the monitor! He had hidden chocolate eggs and big snicker peanutbutter eggs all over the house! They were in the hallway, on the entertainment center, in the kitchen, and even in our bathroom. How sweet of him! (Now next year maybe I can get him to buy the dark chocolate before it it sold out…) He also got a few more bags of candy that he has also been enjoying.
After it stopped raining, and we woke up to watch the end of the exciting (not really, but it did go into “overtime”) golf tournament, we rode bikes around the neighborhood. I took more progress pics just because I like to see how much it’s built up.
Now, if Preston Rd would just open up!
A couple of our latest obsessions -
(I just wanted to document how bad Chris’s HIPPO was.)
